MONICA HOFHEINZ is an Assistant State Attorney for the 17th Judicial Circuit, Broward County, Florida. In 1992, State Attorney Michael J. Satz appointed her to the position of Executive Director.

Ms. Hofheinz received her Juris Doctorate from Nova University Law School and was sworn in as an Assistant State Attorney on October 22, 1984. Previous positions held in the State Attorney’s Office include Division Attorney Misdemeanor Unit (1984-1985), Supervisor Recidivist DUI Cases (1985-1986), Felony Trial Attorney (1986-1987), Lead Felony Trial Attorney (1987-1988), Felony Trial Supervisor (1988-1989), and Assistant State Attorney In-Charge of Special Administrative Projects (1989-1991).

Ms. Hofheinz has specialized in the prosecutions of DUI Manslaughter, Drug-Free School Zone cases and Elder Abuse. She was instrumental in establishing the Elder Abuse Task Force of Broward County.

Ms. Hofheinz, as Executive Director, is responsible for all budgetary and personnel matters of the State Attorney’s Office which include a staff of 521 positions and a combined State and County budget of over $36 million. In addition she is directly responsible for the Information Technology Unit, Witness Liaison Unit, Records/Communications Unit, Archives and the Tax Diversion Unit.

Ms. Hofheinz duties include acting as liaison with the State Legislature in implementing present and future legislation, including both substantive law issues and state appropriations.

Ms. Hofheinz is a charter member of the Government Lawyer section of the Florida Bar, a member of the Criminal Law section of the Florida Bar, Chairperson of the Florida Prosecuting Attorneys Association Classification and Pay Plan, member of the Florida Prosecutors Substantive Law Committee and Executive Vice Chairperson of the Broward County Crime Commission.

Ms. Hofheinz resides in Hollywood Florida with her husband, Peter S. Hofheinz, Jr. They have three children, Veronica Ann Hofheinz, Peter S. Hofheinz, III and Steven Anthony Hofheinz.
