Statement on the Shooting of
Broward Sheriff's Deputy Paul Rein

FORT LAUDERDALE , Fla .-- (BUSINESS WIRE)--Broward County Crime Commission President, James DePelisi, today issued the following statement regarding the shooting of Broward County Sheriff 's Deputy Paul Rein:

"I am deeply saddened and heartfelt by yet another appalling death of a member of the Broward County Sheriff ' s Office . Broward County Sheriff Deputy Paul Rein, a 20-year veteran, is the third Broward deputy to have been shot in the line of duty this year and the second to lose his life serving his community. It is a terrible tragedy when criminals have become so brazen, that they do not think twice about shooting one of ' Florida 's Finest'. This is a deplorable trend that is becoming a significant problem, which needs to be evaluated very seriously. The Broward County Crime Commission and I wish to send our condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Deputy Rein. May God bless him, his family, and the Broward County Sheriff's Office (BSO), during this difficult time."
